Orpheus having descended to Hades because of his wife and seen how things are there did not any longer honour Dionysus, by whom he had been made famous, but considered Helios ( the sun) to be the greatest of gods,whom he also addressed as Apollo. And so Dionysus was angry with him and sent the Bassarai against him to tear hi part and dispersed his limbs.
The bassarai were a group of women.
